Building and Planning
The City of Clarkston’s Building & Planning Department provides land use planning services, issues building permits, provides building inspections and enforces code.
Land use planning is an important tool in developing an organized, well-functioning community. The location of homes, buildings, fences and the activities that go with these uses are key parts of the planning process. The Clarkston Planning Commission is an advisory body made up of five citizens who serve as volunteers and assist in the development of planning policy.
Sometimes, exceptions or changes need to be made to current policy, or there is disagreement. For this purpose, Clarkston uses a Hearings Examiner to process applications for variances, conditional use permits and appeals of official building decisions.
Building permits and inspections ensure that plans for construction meet appropriate codes. Building permits are required for most construction projects, such as fences, re-roofs and siding installation.
Before filling out a permit application you can check the Asotin County Parcel Map to verify your address is in the Clarkston City Limits.
